HILLSBOROUGH: Temple Beth-El’s jubilee to honor 25 years with Rabbi Arnold Gluck

On Sunday, May 15, at 2 p.m., Alan Goodis will perform a free concert at Temple Beth-El in Hillsborough to culminate the Silver Jubilee weekend celebration honoring Rabbi Arnold Gluck for 25 years of spiritual leadership to the community.
Mr. Goodis will be musical artist-in-residence at Temple Beth-El for the weekend, and will play at religious services as well, at the temple at 67 Route 206, two miles south of the Somerville Circle.
Mr. Goodis brings his brand of Jewish rock to congregations and camps across the country. He is known for his dedication to building relationships and community through music. Alan was instrumental in developing Nashir: a NFTY Teen Song leading Institute in partnership with the URJ to provide meaningful song leader training to high school students.
The event is open to the public. Tickets are free but the temple requests attendees to register in advance atwww.tinyurl.com/TBEAlanGoodis2016 or to call the temple office at 908-722-0674, ext. 110.
An educator and leader in the Reform movement, both in the United States and Israel, Rabbi Gluck also leads the temple’s interfaith community involvement and social action initiatives.
The jubilee will begin with special family Shabbat services on Friday, May 13, with guest speaker Rabbi Bennett Miller and musician Goodis, followed by a teen Shul-in.
Rabbi Miller serves as the senior rabbi at Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple in New Brunswick and is the national chair of the Association of Reform Zionists of America.
Teens who participate in the shul-in will have a chance to hang out with Mr. Goodis , sing along and even jam with him.
On Saturday night, May 14, there will be a gourmet dinner dance at the Bridgewater Manor. The evening will feature Reeds, Rhythm & All That Brass, an 18-piece dance orchestra, as well as a DJ and host.
The Silver Jubilee is also a temple fund-raising event and there are sponsorship opportunities available for the weekend events. A jubilee weekend raffle includes such prizes as a trip to LasVegas complete with superstar show tickets, a University of Texas “Hook ‘em Horns” weekend in Austin, Yankee baseball tickets and sports memorabilia.
The Reform Jewish community of more than 400 families was founded in 1953.
